Ken Bryski's Guide to Starting an Online Business

Ken Bryski...Family and Home

Ken Bryski from Nanaimo BC Canada

The Bryski family, makes their home on Vancouver Island, just south of Nanaimo, in British Columbia, Canada.

My wife Cheryl and I have been married since 1981 and we have a son Jordan, who is attending college, studying tourism and sports management.

We also have a little Scotty and Shih Tzu cross we call Rufus. The last member of our family is a six-toed cat named Chloe who loves hunting every living creature on our property.

Until the mid nineties I supported our family operating our salmon troller, the Jildana, on the westcoast of Vancouver Island in the lucrative salmon fishing industry. But then, fishing restrictions slowly squeezed us out and we had to sell our boat or lose it.

In desperation I started taking computer and business courses to try and help myself with a career change when I should have been looking to retirement. Now, Cheryl and I manage a commercial fishing marina for the Federal government.

I still try to do a little albacore tuna fishing in the summer months operating a boat for someone else who's successful in the industry with two boats and multiple licenses.

I'm away for about 2 weeks at a time and usually come back with about 30,000 pounds of high quality, frozen albacore tuna.

Cheryl stays home and holds down the fort at the marina while I'm away.

I also own and maintain several websites on various topics, including this one that's been online in one form or another since 1996.

I volunteer as a moderator in the best business forums on the Internet coaching people on how to build online businesses using website and business building software.

I also volunteer for the Ladysmith Search and Rescue and am currently their recording secretary.

The Bryski Family's Place in Cyberspace

As I mentioned above this website has been online since 1996. It was originally called "The Bryski Family's Place in Cyberspace" and was the home page for our family website.

This website was originally hosted on free webspace through an old dial-up account and was transfered to several different webhosts over the years and even had a couple of different web addresses. In early 2008 I finally transfered it over to the SiteSell servers where I hope it will stay for many years.

Click here to find out a little more about me. This page is about 4 years old and tells a little bit more about my family and things I did while growing up in Nanaimo.

A little bit about the town of Nanaimo where we live.

We are on Vancouver Island in the southwest corner of Canada.

The pages below were some of the original pages I wrote several years ago and explain the salmon fishing industry in British Columbia.
